Fun Diving for Certified Divers
SCUBA Diving in Phi Phi
The Phi Phi Marine Park surrounds the 6 islands that makeup Phi Phi, with 15 local dive sites to choose between, some 5 minutes away by boat, others up to 40 minutes away from our beach resort. Our local sites offer lots of variety; with sloping reefs, dramatic walls as well as rising pinnacles, artificial reefs and wreck dives.
Daily Dive Trips around the Phi Phi Islands
Our most popular diving adventure is a 2-dive trip and these are available to book everyday. We travel around our little patch of paradise on our custom-designed Thai long-tail boat. This gives the whole day a very authentic and personal feeling as the boat holds a maximum of 6 diving customers at any one time. What our guests love is being taken to quiet and sometimes secluded beautiful beaches and bays that some of the other dive companies cannot get to with larger boats. Our dive trips leave from the beach next to our resort rather than the main pier which can often be a bit chaotic. Furthermore, we take you to pristine dive sites where other boats cannot reach on the northern side of Phi Phi Don. We go above and beyond to show you the natural beauty of Phi Phi above the surface as well as below. Our surface intervals can involve sunbathing on the beach, exploring secret caves inside epic cliffs, snorkeling and swimming in coral-covered bays and enjoying your freshly-prepared Thai meal from an eco-friendly re-usable box. We never have single-use plastic on our dive trips and our icy-cold refreshments come in metal 'Trash-Hero' bottles as we aim to limit our impact as much as possible on our fragile natural environment. Please take a look to see our other conservation initiatives and what else we are doing for our environment.
Marine Life - What to expect underwater
Much of the excitement of diving comes from the wonderful creatures you can see underwater. SCUBA divers from all over the world come to Phi Phi year after year as it is a haven for marine animals. This includes turtles (everyone loves turtles, right? We sure do) and Phi Phi has 2 different species; Green and Hawksbill turtles. Sharks are also a common sight around the islands (don't worry, they're not dangerous to humans!) The black-tip reef shark is an incredibly gracious animal that you can only fully appreciate once you've dived with them in their natural habitat. We also have docile leopard sharks that can be seen sleeping on sandy patches during the day time. There are hundreds of species of fish in every colour of the rainbow including lionfish, batfish, butterflyfish, clownfish (aka Nemo), pufferfish, scorpionfish, boxfish, grouper, parrotfish, rainbow wrasse, barracuda, needlefish and trumpetfish, to name a few. Many divers' favourite moment is approaching a school of hundreds and hundreds of yellow snapper and calmly swimming through them, until you are encircled in a tornado of fish. Mesmerising! Octopus and peacock mantis shrimp can also be spotted if you have a keen eye and the colour-changing cuttlefish is arguably the most impressive of all. For the macro-lovers there are multiple species of nudibranch and seahorse that can be found hiding on the reefs. Giant moray eels, squid and sea snakes are also common in these waters. Dolphins can occasionally be seen jumping on the surface whilst we are traveling between sites and if you're really lucky you will see the worlds largest fish; the whale shark, measuring up to 10m in length. Wow.
The timing of these daily trips vary as we plan our dives for the best time of the day to go diving; at slack high tide. This minimises the currents you can experience underwater and also results in improved visibility, giving you a more enjoyable dive.
Keeping our guests safe and happy are the most important things to us. We have highly experienced Dive Instructors that are friendly and professional in equal measure. Beachfront Divers has the best and newest SCUBA equipment on the island; none of this 10-year old worn-out gear with ripped BCD's or leaking gauges. Our general philosophy and attention to detail resulted in us splashing out on the finest diving rental gear for your comfort and peace of mind.
